BE THE CHANGE!

PDA's 2009 Mission

Palmetto Dance Academy and Fine Arts Center is kicking off a community-wide effort to increase volunteerism.  Throughout the year students, parents, and friends will share efforts to reach out to the community in order to make it a better place.  Projects such as Adopt-A-Highway, Helping Hands for the Elderly, and charitable concerts and projects to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and American Cancer Society will come to life.  The culminating event will be PDAFAC's Spring Showcase of Talent titled "Be the Change" where all participants volunteering 20 or more community service hours will be awarded the Presidential Service Award.  Our students not only train in their art but learn lessons of citizenship, leadership, and empowerment.  They learn that with their God-given talent they can make a difference!

GOALS FOR TECHNIQUE CLASSES

GET INVOLVED!!  IT ONLY TAKES A LITTLE EFFORT!  Current "Be the Change" Projects:

Toys for Tots Charity Concert in Preparation

Helping Hands for the elderly Project:  Anyone can volunteer to help the elderly in our area.  Can you cut grass, sweep porches, wrap Christmas presents, and do other odds and ends jobs? Then join us to make a change in our community.  Call the studio to sign up immediately.

Ronald McDonald House Tabs - Drop your can tabs in the lobby to be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Foundation in the Spring

Aluminum Recycling for Area School Teachers - Drop your aluminum cans in the lobby to be recycled.  The money raised goes to buy supplies for teachers to donate to children in need in Saluda District One Schools.

Already this year we have raised over $400 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  We are well on our way to being the change we want to see!

"Be the change you want to see.  Be the hope to those whose lives are far from easy. Reach out and lend a hand. Share everything you can and Be the Change."  ~ Corey Smith
